Town of Martina Franca



Located in the province of Taranto, near the towns of Alberobello and Locorotondo, Martina Franca is one of the most famous villages characterized by the Baroque Art of Apulia.
Walking on the historical center is possible to admire noble palaces adorned with statues, flowers and iron balconies.
Of extraordinary beauty is the Duke Palace, the ancient residence of the Caracciolo Duke, founded on the ruins of an ancient castle, preserving inside ancient rooms, finely decorated with frescoes, by artists of Neapolitan school.

The Baroque Art in Martina Franca finds its highest expression with the Basilica of San Martino, characterized by decorative elements of angels, flowers and acanthus leaves realized in local limestone.


Town of Locorotondo



The famous white colored houses called "cummerse" characterize the old town of Locorotondo, situated in the heart of Itria Valley, near towns of Alberobello and Cisternino.
The name derives from the round shape of this place, surrounded by ancient round walls.

Several narrow streets of Locorotondo are adorned with flowers on the balconies, especial in summer, when the inhabitants takes part to "Balconi Fioriti", a competition rewarding the most beautiful balcony, decorated with flowers and plants.
